The Ohio District of Circle K boasts nearly 700 members on 24 campuses throughout the district. Their membership has one of the highest service hours/member ratio in all of Circle K International and Ohio has been recognized as a distinguished district for the past nine years.

clubs_high.gifThe oldest Kiwanis sponsored-youth program is Key Club. Starting out as an alternative to high school fraternities, the first Key Club was chartered in 1925 in Sacramento, California with seventeen boys. Today, Key Club has 4,711 clubs with a total of 234,528 members and it is active in 20 nations. More than 2 million youth have participated in Key Club since it’s beginning. The Ohio District of Key Club International consists of 260 clubs with more than 14,000 high school age members. Our growth rate for membership has been nearly 400 new members per year in the past five years.

In October of 2000, Kiwanis International extended service opportunities to adult citizens living with developmental disabilities through the formation of Aktion Clubs. These clubs provide members with opportunities to develop initiative and leadership, to serve their communities, to be integrated into society, and to demonstrate the dignity and value of citizens living with developmental disabilities. To date, there are more than 2,000 Aktion Club members in 89 clubs.

clubs_middle.gifWhen middle school and junior high students began to show an interest in organizing to serve their schools and communities, Kiwanis International launched the Builders Club program in 1975. With support from Kiwanis clubs, Key Clubs, and Circle K clubs, the Builders Club network has grown to include more than 1,500 clubs and 44,000 members in 13 nations. The Ohio District has 83 clubs operating in Junior High and Middle schools throughout the state. Builders Club operates strictly on a local level and provides a terrific opportunity for these young people to enhance self-esteem and develop leadership skills.

clubs_elementary.gifThis organization for elementary school-age students began in 1990 when the first club was formed in North Lauderdale, Florida, and it was formally adopted as a Kiwanis International Sponsored Program in 1998. Today, 16,164 students in 500 clubs and 11 nations are actively creating opportunities for community service, leadership development and citizenship education. The Ohio District currently has 27 K-Kids clubs and they are an outstanding way to introduce elementary students to the joys of helping others.
